Lakeview Hecla Family Getaway

Life has been SO busy lately. Between Jason's job, my job, our basement renovation, the flip house and the girls school and activities, we weren't getting much family time. We decided it was time to book another family staycation to get quality time together. We wanted to stay within Manitoba, and had heard great things about Lakeview Hecla, so we booked a weekend away!

ROOMS

We booked an Accessible King Suite, as that's all that was available, and it was perfect. There was a King bed that Jason, Zara and I slept in and a pull-out couch that Everly and Rosie shared. The bathroom was huge with a very deep tub and attached shower. Our view was beautiful and we saw deer running by each morning, the girls loved waking up to it! The rooms also had Microwaves and Mini Fridges, which I loved. With little kids we always need snacks on hand, so we were able to bring snacks and also a few things for one of the breakfasts and one lunch so that we didn't have to eat out every meal.

DINING

There is a restaurant on site called Seagulls, that we all loved. The ambience was so pretty and the menu was great! The girls loved their food and the portions were really big. They also gave the girls coloring which is always helpful. We went for one dinner there and one breakfast. The second night we decided to try another restaurant just down the street called The Lighthouse Restaurant & Lounge. I am so glad we did! It was SO cute and newly renovated. It had such a cozy vibe with a big wood burning fireplace, amazing service and even better food. I highly recommend going over there for a meal if you're in the Hecla area.

POOL

The pool area is the main reason we wanted to stay at the Lakeview Hecla, and it did not disappoint. The waterslide was huge and the girls LOVED it. They ran up and down a hundred times, and it reminded me of my childhood! Waterslides were my favorite thing. Jason and I also went down with the girls and it was a lot of fun. It was enclosed so it was dark and really fast so it was fun even for us. The pool itself is also so family friendly with a beach entrance, little slide, mushroom waterfall and a lazy river. There was a big hot tub which Zara loved, but was unfortunately not working a few times we went. They also have an adults only pool area, which we obviously didn't visit, but it would be great if you did a couples trip or girls trip!

ACTIVITIES

There are a lot of winter activities to do on-site. Snow-shoeing, tobogganing, skating (the rink hadn't opened yet when we were there), hiking, bonfires (you can rent a fire pit and they give you all the supplies you need including roasting sticks) and you could snowmobile if you bring some! We walked out onto the lake with the girls and explored and saw a bunch of deer. There are a few lighthouses you can see too from the property. They also have movies and board games you can sign out, which the girls loved. You can also download the PDF below for a full list of their winter activities!

Overall we had the best weekend ever. It was so relaxing, we had no agenda or schedule, and everyone (but me) took a nap on Saturday which we never get to do. I highly recommend booking in a weekend with your family! I've also heard this resort is filling up fast, if you need another local ideas check out Travel Manitoba's Trip Planner.

Best,

Stacey
